This bill amends the Kansas Open Records Act to create an exception for records held by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks that contain the precise location of species listed as threatened or endangered under federal law (16 U.S.C. § 1531 et seq.) or species that are threatened, endangered, or in need of conservation under state law (K.S.A. 32-957 et seq.). These specific location records will no longer be subject to public disclosure requirements, meaning they cannot be requested by the public, unless the request is made by a landowner, their lessee, or designee regarding their own property. The bill also repeals the existing section of law and states that it will take effect upon publication in the Kansas Register.
