This bill amends existing law to change how the state reimburses utility companies for the costs of relocating their facilities when highway construction projects require it. However, for utility facilities owned by municipalities and other political subdivisions, the state will fully cover the relocation costs, ensuring these public entities are not burdened by highway construction expenses. These changes apply to highway projects authorized for construction after March 1, 1976, and the act takes effect immediately upon its passage.
