This bill amends existing law to require specialty contractors who primarily engage in landscape work to complete at least one hour of continuing education every two years on topics such as water conservation landscaping principles, including understanding water scarcity, selecting native drought-tolerant plants, efficient irrigation design, and soil amendment techniques, or fire risk management landscaping principles, including designing landscapes to prevent fire spread and incorporating non-combustible materials. These new requirements are added to the existing six hours of continuing education that all contractor licensees must complete for renewal, and the bill specifies an effective date of May 6, 2026, with provisions for coordinating with another bill, H.B. 40, if both become law.
