This bill establishes the Maternal Health Monitoring Pilot Program within the State Department of Health to improve maternal healthcare for eligible participants, defined as pregnant individuals receiving medical assistance and enrolled in a participating managed care organization. The program will utilize remote patient monitoring technology, provided by a selected technology vendor and administered by one or more managed care organizations, to track maternal hypertension and diabetes. This technology will involve FDA-authorized devices that collect and securely transmit health data like blood pressure and glucose levels, with a remote monitoring clinical care team providing support, health coaching, and coordinating with healthcare providers. The pilot program will operate for two years, aiming to enroll up to 300 eligible participants across necessary counties, and will conclude with a report evaluating its outcomes and recommending whether it should be expanded statewide.
