AI Summary

This bill, known as the Mississippi Affordable Child Care Act, mandates that a portion of federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) funds be redirected to support child care services. Specifically, each year, any unspent TANF funds carried over from the previous year must be reallocated to the division within the Department of Human Services that administers the Child Care Payment Program (CCPP). Additionally, thirty percent of the state's annual TANF block grant must be transferred to the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) to fund subsidies for eligible families through the CCPP. These provisions aim to ensure that federal TANF funds are utilized for direct child care assistance for parents who qualify for CCPP, aligning with federal regulations.
