This bill, known as the Asbestos Action Over-Naming Reform Act, introduces new requirements for plaintiffs in asbestos-related lawsuits in Mississippi. The bill also allows for the dismissal of an asbestos action without prejudice if a defendant's product or premises is not identified in the plaintiff's disclosures or if the plaintiff fails to comply with the chapter's provisions. Furthermore, it amends existing laws to ensure consistency with these new disclosure requirements and maintains provisions related to discovery in asbestos litigation, including the admissibility and discoverability of trust materials and governance documents. These changes are set to take effect for all asbestos actions filed on or after July 1, 2026.
