This bill mandates that all health benefit plans, including those provided by Medicaid and private insurance companies regulated by the state, must cover essential disability-related services and supports for children aged 18 and under who have disabilities, as determined by a physician. These covered services include, but are not limited to, augmentative and alternative communication devices (tools that help people communicate when they cannot speak or write), in-home nursing care, behavioral therapy, developmental resources and services, diapers, and necessary medical supplies. The bill also requires timely authorization for these services and prohibits repeated or unsupported denials, aiming to ensure that eligible children receive the necessary care and support for their disabilities.
