This bill establishes new requirements for criminal justice agencies in Kentucky to share criminal history records information when requested by specific federal agencies or their contractors for the purpose of conducting suitability or fitness assessments for federal or contractor employees, as outlined in federal law (5 U.S.C. sec. 9101). These criminal justice agencies are permitted to charge a $25 fee to cover their expenses for providing this information, with the Commonwealth not being responsible for this fee. Additionally, the bill amends existing law regarding juvenile justice records to align with these new provisions, ensuring that juvenile records can be accessed by criminal justice agencies for these specific federal background check purposes.
