This bill, amending Tennessee Code Annotated Titles 40 and 41, prohibits the state's Department of Correction from moving an inmate from a local jail to a state facility if that inmate is participating in a work release or re-entry program, unless the inmate has failed to meet the program's requirements or their disciplinary record justifies removal from the program. Work release and re-entry programs are designed to help inmates transition back into society by allowing them to work or participate in rehabilitative activities outside the jail or prison.
