This bill establishes the "Adirondack Park Affordable Housing Act," creating a 27-member Adirondack Park Affordable Housing Task Force to comprehensively review and recommend solutions for affordable housing issues within the Adirondack Park. The task force will include representatives from various state agencies, including the Division of Housing and Community Renewal and the Adirondack Park Agency, as well as county representatives and members appointed by the governor. Members will not be compensated but will be reimbursed for expenses, and the task force will be authorized to hold hearings and consult with relevant entities. By January 1, 2029, the task force must submit a report to state leadership detailing its findings on the availability of affordable housing, contributing factors to its lack, and proposing specific recommendations for legislative or policy changes to increase affordable housing and set targets for communities within the park. This act will take effect immediately and expire on December 31, 2029.
