AI Summary

This bill establishes the Critical Infrastructure Emergency Mapping Grant Program within the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to create a reliable and easily accessible source of mapping data for critical infrastructure, which are essential facilities and systems like power grids or water treatment plants. This data will help public safety agencies, such as police and fire departments, respond more quickly and effectively to emergencies. Municipalities, counties, and state law enforcement agencies can apply for grants from the DPS to create detailed mapping data for buildings or campuses under their jurisdiction. The program will be funded by a dedicated Critical Infrastructure Emergency Mapping Grant Fund, which will receive legislative appropriations and other available money. The mapping data must be compatible with existing emergency response software, printable, shareable, and include detailed information like interior floor plans, exterior access, and precise location data, all provided permanently at no ongoing cost after initial production.
