This bill amends an existing law concerning the compensation for the Sheriff of Montgomery County. Specifically, it increases the annual expense allowance for a sheriff who has completed two consecutive full terms from $20,000 to $70,000, payable monthly from the county's general fund, and this allowance can be used for retirement contributions. This increased allowance will expire at the end of the current sheriff's term or upon a vacancy in the office. Furthermore, the bill establishes a new annual salary for sheriffs, effective from the next term, of $225,000, an increase from the previous $175,000, also paid from the county's general fund. The bill will become effective on the first day of the month following its passage.
