AI Summary

This bill, known as "Eric's ID Law," mandates that beginning in 2027, all basic training for peace officers in Georgia must include instruction on interacting with individuals who have non-apparent disabilities, which are conditions not immediately obvious or visible, such as developmental or intellectual disabilities. Additionally, the bill allows individuals to voluntarily request a notation on their driver's license or identification card indicating a non-apparent physical or mental disability, and they can also request to remove this notation. The state is prohibited from disclosing information about these requests, with specific exceptions for court orders, criminal justice agencies, other licensing authorities, written authorization, or child support services. The bill also waives any fees associated with adding or removing these disability notations from licenses and identification cards, and requires consultation with advocacy groups for the design of these notations and public outreach about their availability.
