This bill modifies requirements for governing bodies of continuing care retirement communities, which are facilities providing ongoing care for residents. Specifically, it alters the number of regular and alternate members required on these governing bodies, which are groups that ultimately direct the affairs of a provider (a person or entity offering continuing care). Instead of the governing body selecting subscriber members (individuals for whom a continuing care agreement is purchased), the resident association at the facility will now be responsible for selecting these regular and alternate subscriber representatives. Furthermore, the bill removes the stipulation that these subscriber members must be chosen based on the same general standards and criteria used for selecting other governing body members, allowing for greater flexibility in their selection.
