This bill amends provisions related to the school lunch program by directing 10% of the total gross revenue from liquor sales to the Uniform School Fund to support school meals, and allows the State Board of Education to use up to 5% of these funds to cover lunch costs for eligible students whose families earn at or below 200% of the federal poverty level and do not qualify for reduced-price meals under the National School Lunch Program, which is a federal program providing free or reduced-price meals to eligible children. Additionally, the bill expands the definition of an "eligible student" to include those in kindergarten through grade 6 whose family income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty level, and requires Local Education Agencies (LEAs), which are school districts or similar entities, to report on their use of liquor revenue for school meals and to direct communications about meal debt only to parents. The bill also modifies reporting requirements for the school meal program to legislative committees and establishes repeal dates for certain reporting provisions related to the school meal program.
