This resolution, a formal statement agreed upon by both the Senate and the House of Representatives of the One Hundred Fourteenth General Assembly of the State of Tennessee, provides for a temporary suspension of legislative activities, known as a recess, due to anticipated severe weather. Specifically, the General Assembly will adjourn at the end of the business day on Thursday, January 22, 2026. The Senate is scheduled to resume its sessions on Monday, February 2, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST), while the House of Representatives is set to reconvene on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. CST. However, the House's reconvening date can be postponed to Monday, February 2, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. CST, if inclement weather necessitates it, as determined by the Speaker of the House and communicated in writing. This recess is made possible by the House of Representatives' agreement to the terms outlined in this resolution, as required by Article II, Section 16 of the Tennessee Constitution.
