AI Summary

This bill mandates that only registered voters affiliated with a specific political party can vote in that party's primary election, while unaffiliated voters can participate in nonpartisan elections held concurrently. It requires political parties' state executive committees to annually set qualifications for primary voters, and the Secretary of State will create a standardized statewide voter registration application to record party affiliation. Voting in a primary for a party other than the one a voter is registered with will be considered vote fraud, punishable by fines or imprisonment. The bill also updates various sections of Mississippi law to incorporate the use of this uniform statewide voter registration application and to allow circuit and municipal clerks to enter party affiliation information into the Statewide Elections Management System, which is a statewide database for managing voter registration.
