Current law requires public schools to include on either side of identification cards issued to students in grades 7 through 12 the your life Iowa crisis telephone and text numbers, and authorizes a public school that issues identification cards to students in grades 5 and 6 to do so as well. H.F. _____ This bill requires public schools that issue physical or electronic student identification cards to students in grades 6 through 12 to include the your life Iowa crisis hotline telephone and text numbers and the internet address for your life Iowa on physical identification cards, and requires that the internet address be provided through a link for electronic identification cards. The bill also authorizes a public school that issues physical or electronic student identification cards to students in grade five to include the same information. The bill applies to student identification cards issued on or after the effective date of the bill. A school that has a supply of unused physical student identification cards shall use that supply prior to complying with the requirements of the bill relating to physical student identification cards.
