This bill establishes a new section of law in Missouri concerning research into rare pediatric diseases. It defines "MURR" as the University of Missouri research reactor, "Radiotheranostics" as a medical treatment using radioactive substances for both diagnosis and therapy, "Rare pediatric disease" as a serious or long-term illness affecting fewer than 200,000 children in the U.S., and "University" as the entire University of Missouri system. The bill mandates the University to create a governance board comprised of representatives from its medical school, research reactor, cancer center, and precision health initiative, along with appointees from both chambers of the state legislature, a patient or family advocate, and a representative from a partner organization. This board will be responsible for submitting an annual public report to the General Assembly by December 31st, detailing research on radiotheranostics for rare pediatric diseases, including completed and initiated projects, their results, funding details, and any legislative suggestions. This new section will be in effect until June 30, 2030.
