This bill amends Section 41-29-117 of the Mississippi Code of 1972 to add kratom, including its active compounds mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, their salts, isomers, and derivatives, to Schedule III of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act, which categorizes drugs based on their potential for abuse and accepted medical use. Schedule III substances are generally considered to have a moderate to low potential for physical or psychological dependence. This change will take effect on July 1, 2026.
