This bill mandates that the State Board of Elections (SBE) create standardized rules for reporting election data, aiming to improve how election results and voter information are managed. These rules will ensure that election data, including details about election districts, precincts, and polling places, has consistent identification and names. By July 1, 2027, the SBE must publish guidelines for complying with these standardization conventions. Election authorities will be required to follow these standards, and beginning with the 2028 general primary election, all data they report must conform to these requirements at least 75 days before each election. The SBE will also conduct periodic audits, starting October 1, 2027, to verify that election data meets these new standardization requirements and will inform election authorities of any necessary corrections. This standardization effort is intended to streamline data management and reporting across the state.
