This joint resolution extends the Retail Crime Prevention Task Force, which was originally established on January 29, 2025, by Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 12 (SCR 12) of the 153rd General Assembly. The Task Force was tasked with studying and reporting on six key areas related to retail crime, including its impacts, ways to improve responses, and addressing its root causes, with a deadline of March 1, 2026, for its final report to be submitted to the General Assembly, the Governor, and the Director and Librarian of Legislative Services. Because the Task Force requires more time to complete its work, this resolution extends its existence until the submission of its final report, and specifically mandates that the co-chairs submit this report no later than May 1, 2026.
