This bill expands the ability of pharmacists in Virginia to initiate treatment with, dispense, or administer drugs and devices for the purpose of preventing or reducing the severity of influenza symptoms. This means pharmacists will be able to provide treatments, such as antiviral medications or other preventative measures, directly to patients to help them avoid getting the flu or to lessen its impact if they do contract it, building upon existing provisions that allow pharmacists to manage various health conditions and administer vaccines.
