This bill amends existing Vermont law to grant employees of the Vermont State Colleges and the University of Vermont the right to strike, which was previously prohibited for state employees. Specifically, it modifies a section of law that prevents state employees from striking or recognizing picket lines while on duty, by adding an exception for these higher education employees. It also revises another section that defines unfair labor practices for employee organizations, by stating that it is not an unfair labor practice for an employee organization to encourage individuals employed by the Vermont State Colleges or the University of Vermont to strike. The bill is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
