This bill requires members of the Vermont General Assembly (legislators) and elected statewide executive officers, along with their deputies, to file disclosures detailing the costs and associated information for any travel undertaken in their official capacity or because of their position, if that travel is paid for by someone other than themselves or the State. These disclosures must include the purpose and itinerary of the travel, all expenses incurred (such as transportation, food, lodging, and entertainment), the date of any payment or reimbursement, and identify who paid for or provided each element of the travel costs, including the State, the individual, or other sources like lobbyists or political groups. Legislators and executive officers must sign and date these disclosures, which are to be filed with the State Ethics Commission within 30 days of incurring travel costs, and may require supplemental disclosures if a matter involving the travel payer comes before them within six months. The State Ethics Commission will help design the disclosure forms, and this new requirement will take effect on July 1, 2026.
