This bill amends existing law to remove restrictions that prevented county legislative bodies from imposing stricter conditions or requirements on certain housing projects developed by the Hawaii Housing Finance and Development Corporation (HHFDC). Previously, county governments were prohibited from setting stricter income requirements or reducing fee waivers that would increase project costs beyond what the HHFDC had already approved. This bill removes those specific prohibitions, allowing counties more flexibility in their review and approval process for these housing projects, while still requiring them to meet minimum health and safety standards and allowing for county comment.
