Specifically, if someone is found guilty of both vehicular homicide due to intoxication and leaving the scene of the accident stemming from the same event, they will be classified as a "Range II offender" for the vehicular homicide charge, meaning their potential punishment will be more severe than a standard offender, though their sentence could potentially be within "Range III" (even more severe) but never lower than Range II. This change aims to address situations where intoxicated drivers cause death and then attempt to evade responsibility by fleeing the scene.
