This bill requires any qualified organization, such as a volunteer fire company or a charitable group, to obtain a gaming permit before operating a "gaming device" in St. Mary's County; a gaming device is defined as any mechanism for playing a game of chance, including paddle wheels or stamp machines, but excluding slot machines. The County Commissioners of St. Mary's County are authorized to create rules and regulations, in consultation with a designated individual, to manage and enforce this new gaming device permit requirement. Furthermore, the County Commissioners must appoint a specific person to oversee the process of issuing these gaming permits. This legislation is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
