This bill amends the Child Welfare Parental Representation Program by changing how the program is administered and funded. Instead of contracting directly with parental representation attorneys, the program will now provide support for indigent parental defense services through a grant process managed by the Indigent Defense Commission, and it will also administer the Interdisciplinary Parental Representation Program. The bill also updates the budget reporting requirements to reflect actual expenditures from the prior year for contracts, the Interdisciplinary Parental Representation Program, and other parent representation costs, and it specifies that the program will be effective on May 6, 2026.
