This bill extends the reporting deadline for a workgroup studying transfers of member service between state and local retirement and pension systems from December 1, 2025, to October 1, 2026, and the termination date of the workgroup itself from 2026 to June 30, 2027. The State Retirement Agency, which convenes this workgroup, will now report its findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislative changes, to the Governor and specific legislative committees: the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee, the House Appropriations Committee, and the Joint Committee on Pensions, instead of the entire General Assembly. This extension provides more time for the workgroup to complete its study and for the agency to report its conclusions, aiming to improve the process by which individuals can transfer their earned service credits between different state and local retirement plans.
