This bill requires the Department of the Attorney General to publish an annual report on its website, starting by April 1, 2027, and every year thereafter, detailing various firearm-related data. This comprehensive report will include information on firearm permits and licenses, firearm purchases categorized by type and seller, firearm-related deaths and injuries broken down by cause (such as violence, unintentional discharge, or self-harm), and data on unaccounted-for firearms, including those lost or stolen and how they were stored. It will also track firearm storage violations, confiscated firearms like "ghost guns" (firearms without serial numbers or not commercially manufactured), and details about firearms used in violent incidents, including their ownership and origin. Furthermore, the report will include demographic information on individuals involved in firearm incidents (both operators and victims), areas most affected by gun violence, and any other data the department deems necessary to assess the effectiveness of current gun laws and identify areas needing legislative attention, with all data sources also being disclosed. To facilitate this, county police chiefs, the director of health, and other relevant agency directors must provide the necessary data to the Department of the Attorney General by February 1st each year. This Act is set to take effect on July 1, 2050.
