This bill amends existing laws to improve protections for children and victims of domestic violence, particularly when military personnel are involved. It requires that if a child abuse or neglect investigation involves a member of the U.S. military, the investigating agency must notify a designated authority at that military installation, and these agencies will work to establish formal agreements, known as memoranda of understanding, to facilitate this notification process. Additionally, the bill allows courts to permit remote appearances, via phone or video, for hearings related to domestic violence protection orders, and mandates that a copy of any domestic violence protection order be sent to the designated authority of a military installation if a party to the order is in the military.
