This bill amends the Property Tax Code to provide alternative methods for publishing property assessments in counties with fewer than 3,000,000 inhabitants. If a county has no newspaper published within its borders, assessment publications will now be printed in a public newspaper of general circulation in that county. Furthermore, in counties with less than 3,000,000 inhabitants, the county assessor is given the option to publish the complete list of property assessments on the county's official website instead of using traditional newspaper publications, provided the website is managed by the county and has been publicly accessible for at least a year. This online list must be in a searchable format, not an image, and must include the same important notices and information required for newspaper publications, such as the median level of assessment, details about homestead exemptions, and instructions on how to appeal an assessment. The online list must remain accessible until the county assessment roll is officially certified. The bill also mandates that the county assessor provide a printed copy of the assessment list free of charge to any taxpayer who requests it.
