AI Summary

This bill significantly revises the licensure and regulation of professional engineers and surveyors in Mississippi by consolidating existing laws and expanding the scope of the Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Surveyors to include surveyors. Key provisions include defining "surveying" and "practice of surveying," establishing new qualifications and terms for board members, increasing licensure and renewal fees, and clarifying that sole proprietorships and professional associations of licensed professionals are exempt from obtaining a certificate of authority. The bill also introduces new sections that grant surveyors the right to enter certain lands without criminal liability for trespass, while still holding them civilly liable for damages, and repeals older laws specifically governing land surveyor licensure. Additionally, it makes conforming amendments to other sections of the Mississippi Code to reflect these changes, such as updating references to surveyor licensure and clarifying trespass laws related to surveyors.
