Furthermore, operators of these AI companions must clearly notify users, both at the start of and periodically during interactions, that the AI is a computer program incapable of feeling human emotions. The bill also outlines enforcement mechanisms, allowing individuals harmed by violations to seek damages and empowering the attorney general to take legal action against non-compliant providers, and it is set to take effect on January 1, 2027.
