This bill amends the Property Tax Code to change the residency requirement for members of appointed boards of review in counties with less than 3,000,000 inhabitants that operate under a township system and do not elect their board of review. Previously, these board members had to be citizens of the county, but this bill now requires them to be citizens of the State of Illinois, broadening the pool of potential appointees. Additionally, the bill modifies the terms for newly appointed board members, with two serving one-year terms and one serving a two-year term, and it also removes a provision that allowed residents of adjacent counties to serve on expanded boards of review in specific collar counties (Lake, DuPage, McHenry, or Kane). The bill takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
