AI Summary
This bill, known as Caleb's Law, strengthens penalties and expands the definition of sexual extortion, which involves using threats to coerce someone into sexual acts, providing sexual images, or giving something of value. Specifically, it increases penalties when an adult offender (18 or older) targets a victim under 18 or a dependent adult, and it creates new crimes of aggravated sexual extortion that result in great bodily harm or death to the victim. The bill also requires the Attorney General to develop and distribute educational materials about these crimes, collaborating with educational and law enforcement entities to inform schools, students, parents, and the public, and to report annually on these efforts. The definition of "image, video or other recording" has been updated to include digitally altered or AI-generated content that appears to depict a person.
