This bill authorizes the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) to conduct a three-year pilot project, starting July 1, 2026, to test advanced data analytics and decision-support technology aimed at improving institutional safety, health outcomes, staffing efficiency, and risk management, without requiring additional staff. The project will focus on early detection of preventable medical emergencies, reducing overtime and improving staffing, assisting with Medicare transitions to lower costs, identifying operational strain, and mitigating safety and litigation risks. All data used will remain state property and must be handled with strict privacy and security measures, and the MDOC will report annually on the project's impact, including quantified reductions in emergencies, overtime, and incidents, as well as estimated cost savings and an assessment of whether the technology should be expanded, modified, or discontinued.
