This bill amends Mississippi law to revise the definition of "cause of death" for the Law Enforcement Officers and Fire Fighters Death Benefits Trust Fund, a fund established to provide financial support to the families of deceased law enforcement officers and firefighters. Specifically, it removes language that previously prohibited payments from the fund if a covered individual's death was the result of suicide or intentionally self-inflicted bodily injury, thereby allowing such deaths to be eligible for benefits at the discretion of the Commissioner of Public Safety. The bill also makes technical changes to numbering within the code.
