This resolution congratulates and commends the members of the 2026 Kansas Teacher of the Year team, recognizing their dedication to improving schools, student performance, and the teaching profession. The Kansas Teacher of the Year program, sponsored by the Kansas State Department of Education, identifies and utilizes exemplary teachers from across the state. This year, Rachel Marlow from Olathe USD 233 was named the 2026 Kansas Teacher of the Year, and eight regional finalists, including Tracie Betz, Jason Peters, Susan Rogers, Lauren Sage, Julie Smith, Troy St. Clair, and Tranda Strnad, were also honored. The program aims to build a network of these outstanding educators, with the Kansas Teacher of the Year also nominated to represent the state in the National Teacher of the Year program. The selected teachers received cash rewards and mementos at an awards banquet, and the Kansas Teacher of the Year receives the Hubbard Foundation Kansas Teacher of the Year Ambassadorship, allowing them to dedicate time to program activities.
