This resolution, a joint resolution passed by both the Senate and House of Delegates of Virginia, designates the first Thursday in May of 2026 and every year thereafter as the National Day of Prayer in Virginia, recognizing the historical and cultural significance of prayer and spiritual reflection in the Commonwealth and the United States, and acknowledging the nation's founding principle of religious freedom. To inform faith leaders, the Clerk of the Senate will transmit a copy of this resolution to them and post the designation on the General Assembly's website.
