This bill allows the Director of Commerce and Consumer Affairs to issue a temporary license for dealing and fitting hearing aids to high school students participating in an approved structured training program, which is defined as a program aligned with the requirements for full licensure. The director will set the educational and training standards for these temporary licenses, ensuring that students in grades nine through twelve can qualify, and will also establish requirements for eligible training programs. Applicants must be enrolled in such a program, submit a complete application, and pay fees, and a temporary license can only be issued once per person. The director will determine the scope of practice, supervision requirements, and duration for these temporary licenses. If a temporary license holder fails to apply for or pass the full licensure examination immediately after graduating high school, or otherwise fails to obtain full licensure, their temporary privileges will automatically end after written notification from the director.
