This bill requires the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism (DBEDT), in partnership with a county it selects, to create a pilot program for an artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted system to help applicants ensure their permit applications are complete and correct before they are officially submitted. This AI platform, specifically for single-family home permits, will use artificial intelligence to check for missing information, inconsistencies, and required fields, validate basic property details, and route applications to all necessary county departments simultaneously, while also providing applicants with guidance through a chat feature and FAQs, ensuring that human assistance remains available and that AI enhances, rather than replaces, it. DBEDT will also develop a way to measure the success of this pilot platform to see if it could be adopted statewide, and the bill appropriates funds for this project, contingent on the selected county providing matching funds, with the entire initiative set to begin on July 1, 2050.
