This bill increases the spending limit and appropriates funds from the State Risk Management Revolving Fund, which is a fund established to cover the state's insurance costs, to allow the Department of Accounting and General Services, specifically its State Risk Management and Insurance Administration, to use property and liability insurance money received from the 2023 Maui wildfires. This money is intended to help repair and rebuild state facilities and infrastructure damaged in Lahaina. A key requirement of this bill is that the Department of Accounting and General Services must create and submit a comprehensive, coordinated project spreadsheet to the Legislature. This spreadsheet will be developed in partnership with various state agencies, the County of Maui, and other relevant organizations to ensure that rebuilding efforts are aligned, resources are used efficiently, and all involved parties can participate effectively in the recovery process, preventing duplicated efforts and maximizing the use of insurance proceeds. The bill is set to become effective on July 1, 2525.
