This bill modifies existing regulations for alcoholic beverage license holders in Anne Arundel County by renaming certain entertainment permits and expanding the types of entertainment allowed under them, while also introducing a new zoning requirement. Specifically, the "music" permit is now called a "BACKGROUND ENTERTAINMENT" permit and will allow more than one television and recorded music or piped-in background music, but still prohibits dancing and floor shows. The "an" permit is now a "GENERAL entertainment" permit, which will authorize live music with up to four musicians, trivia games, karaoke, and music by a disc jockey, in addition to what is allowed under the background entertainment permit; however, this permit will now require any outdoor entertainment to be at least 100 feet away from any residential property. Finally, the "dancing" permit is renamed a "FULL ENTERTAINMENT" permit and will allow all entertainment permitted under the general entertainment permit, plus dancing, a permanent dance floor, a stage area, floor shows, and other legal forms of entertainment, with the same 100-foot zoning requirement for outdoor events.
