This bill establishes a Task Force on Proactive Review of Audio and Video Recordings on Special Education Buses, comprised of members from the Senate, House of Delegates, state education and commerce departments, and appointed parents and advocates, to study the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to automatically review audio and video recordings from special education buses to enhance student safety and security. The Task Force will analyze existing policies, the effectiveness and cost of recording technology, and potential privacy concerns, ultimately making recommendations on implementing or improving recording systems and AI review processes, as well as a notification procedure for incidents, by December 1, 2026, to relevant legislative committees.
