This bill extends the funding period for grants to qualifying nonprofit organizations that provide automotive repair training and reentry assistance to incarcerated or formerly incarcerated individuals, allowing the Governor to include a $1,000,000 appropriation in the annual budget bill through fiscal year 2029, and extends the termination date for these provisions by one year to June 30, 2029. A "qualifying nonprofit organization" is defined as one that offers such training and assistance, trains at least 50 individuals annually in automotive repair, can provide a nationally recognized automotive repair certificate, and has at least a 50% employment placement rate in paid automotive repair jobs for participants. The Governor's Office of Crime Prevention Policy will administer these funds, and recipient organizations must report on fund expenditures, the number of individuals served, and outcome-based performance measures.
