This bill amends existing Idaho law to update provisions regarding the use of epinephrine in schools, specifically changing the term "epinephrine auto-injector" to the broader "epinephrine delivery system" to encompass newer devices. It clarifies that schools must have policies allowing students to self-administer their prescribed epinephrine delivery systems and allows schools to stock and administer these systems to any student or individual experiencing anaphylaxis, a severe, life-threatening allergic reaction, even if they don't have a personal prescription. The bill also reinforces liability protections for healthcare providers and school personnel who provide or administer epinephrine delivery systems in good faith, as long as their actions are reasonable and not grossly negligent, reckless, or willful. The changes are effective immediately upon becoming law due to an declared emergency.
