This bill modifies the Physician Assistant Act by redefining "collaboration" to mean a physician assistant's consultation with or referral to an appropriate physician or other health care practitioner, rather than requiring joint contribution to patient care, and removes the requirement for a physician assistant to be supervised by or collaborate with a licensed physician if they have at least four thousand hours of clinical practice experience in a specific specialty, allowing them to practice independently in that specialty after meeting this experience threshold and complying with board rules, while also clarifying that physician assistants with less than four thousand hours of experience in a specialty must establish a supervising or collaborating relationship with a licensed physician or other appropriate health care practitioner. Additionally, the bill removes the fee for registering a supervising or collaborating physician and makes other minor adjustments to definitions and requirements related to physician assistant practice.
