Bill Summary

Current law generally requires a person who keeps a certain amount of livestock to register the premises at which the livestock is kept with the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. In so registering, the person must provide certain information to DATCP about the premises, including the type of livestock kept at the premises and the kind of livestock operation at the premises, using standards and guidelines from a national animal identification plan developed by the federal department of agriculture. This bill removes the requirement that the person use standards and guidelines from a national animal identification plan developed by the federal department of agriculture.

AI Summary

This bill removes the requirement for individuals who keep a certain amount of livestock to use standards and guidelines from the National Animal Identification Plan, developed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, when registering their livestock premises with the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP). Previously, when registering, these individuals had to provide information about the type of livestock and the kind of operation, and this information had to adhere to the national plan's standards. The bill aims to simplify this process by eliminating the mandatory use of these specific national guidelines, which are no longer in effect.
